Would you like a custom font that you can install on your computer and use in any graphic design, word processing, desktop publishing, or photo editing program? Having an installable font for your worldbuilding can speed up the design and build time for your props, accessories, and campaign materials, and ensures a consistency and professional look for the text in your fictional world. Whether it’s an ancient language appearing on some Elder Race scrolls, or the words stenciled on the side of invading alien spaceships, we will give the text in your world the slick and unique look that your world deserves.

How to make a request
Send us an email at foundry@secondcircle.pro and tell us what you are looking for, and the nature of your project. You can come to us with a very specific font idea in mind, or you can start the conversation with just a general idea of the backstory and the world where your font will appear. Once we have discussed your requirements, we will give you a quote for the project and a time frame for when you can expect it to be completed. The more information you provide, faster the design process will be.
What you get
When it is done, you will receive an OpenType (OTF) font file that you can install on any Apple or Microsoft computer, and can be used by any major design application (e.g. Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Creative Creative Suite, etc). If you have requested a family of related font variants (regular, bold, italics, bold italics), you will receive a separate file for each variant.
How much it costs
We provide custom quotes for all projects after an initial consultation. The price will depend on several factors:
- Can you provide drawings of some or all of the characters?
- Is it a “typeface” or “handwriting” font? (Handwriting fonts are more complex and take longer.)
- How many non-English letters or special characters do you need?
- How many font variations (regular, bold, italics, etc.) do you need?
A simple typeface font with only standard English letters, numerals, and punctuation and only one variation (regular) can be as low as $50, especially if you can provide drawings of some or all of the characters.
Custom fonts with complex characters that need to support a large variety of languages and multiple variations (regular, bold, italics, bold italics) can be as high as $500 or more, because of the extensive time needed to design and create such fonts.
Exclusive versus Non-Exclusive Use
Most of our custom fonts are purchased for exclusive use by our customers. This means only you would receive the font file(s), and you would receive a legal document stating that we designed and created the font exclusively for your use, and that you are the legal owner of the font and its copyright.
However, we have another option if you have a great font idea and want to save some money.
If we think a large number of people might be interested in the font, we may offer you the option of a non-exclusive design contract. The non-exclusive contract states that you and the Second Circle Font Foundry are co-owners of the font, and you will always receive credit as the originator of the font concept, but that you grant the Second Circle Font Foundry exclusive unlimited rights to sell and distribute the font to third parties. The cost to you would be dropped to $40 regardless of the complexity of the font, and you would receive a copy of the font for your personal use. We would add the final product to our portfolio of fonts available for sale on MyFonts.com. This is a “win-win” and a good option if you have a cool original font concept but can’t afford to pay a higher design fee.
